October is Magic

di Antonella

San Vito Lo Capo will make you fall in love.

Its sea, its long beach, the good food.

Those has never been there wonders when to go to San Vito Lo Capo.

Those who have already visited our small village often return even at the end of the summer to live a totally different experience!

Why should you come here “out of season”?

We chose 3 reasons why you should come to San Vito Lo Capo even at the end of the summer.

1. The Beach

In the month of October in San Vito Lo Capo the temperatures are no longer as hot as in August but new scents and colors flood the senses of those who have the privilege of coming here every year.

October is still beautiful here: temperatures are between 16 and 24 degrees.

The sea takes on warmer temperatures than in summer, because it was well warmed by the summer sun in the previous months.

You can still swim and enjoy the beach in San Vito Lo Capo which is much less crowded than in the main months of the summer, achieving maximum relaxation in beautiful days with wonderful colors.

2. Trekking and Climbing

As mentioned above, the mild climate and the warm sun are ideal for the last holiday spent on the beach, but I recommend you come here in October, especially to discover some particular features of the area around San Vito Lo Capo.

You may go to the Monte Monaco.

It is a mountain where in ancient times some "Sanvitesi" lived right there at the top, extracting the marble or cultivating the land.

In the 1980s, it was rediscovered by climbing experts.

Monte Monaco is not only a destination for climbing pro, there are many paths you can take with the people you care about most.

I have personally had this experience and I recommend this adventure even with children!

It is a fantastic hike of about an hour and a half between the splendid colors and scents of the Mediterranean vegetation.

At the end of the path, you will be fascinated by the splendid view of the bay of San Vito Lo Capo and you can immediately tell your experience in the diary you will find at the top.

But if you love nature, the one at Monte Cofano is not the only hike you can take.

You may also go to the Zingaro Natura Reserve!

Here the time has stopped:

- In fact, there is the "Borgo Cusenza", a small group of abandoned houses dating back to the early 1950s.

- Once at the "Zingaro" you have to take a bath, it would be a real shame to waste this opportunity!

Much less known than the Riserva dello Zingaro, also the “Riserva di Monte Cofano” is an authentic natural area with a wonderful sea.

The path that runs along the sea is quite easy and passable even by mountain bike.

Along the route caves, towers and wide inlets with a sea of unique colors.

And if I'm a climbing enthusiast? Is there only the Zingaro Reserve ?

Absolutely not!

San Vito Lo Capo offers you many possibilities for climbing with predominantly limestone rock with spectacular colors.

  • I recommend you the cliffs of Cala Mancina

It is 5 minutes by car from San Vito Lo Capo; here you really have a lot of possibilities to have fun!

A bath at sunset, then, is really a must!

3- The "Pesce Azzurro"

A memorable experience – at least as we understand it – does not exclude good food. And you know, San Vito Lo Capo is synonymous with good cuisine.

During this time of year the “Pesce Azzurro” is fished: the anchovies, sardines, tuna are a real must; you can find them in every good restaurant in San Vito Lo Capo!

A small event was also dedicated to this delicious fish, namely "Tempu ri Capuna".

Embark on a new holiday!
